Academic and Cultural Advisors

Our staff are dedicated to supporting individual students through any academic challenges. They can provide advice or assist, refer, advocate and liaise with faculties on your behalf. Contact them at any time during office hours by phone, email or by dropping into Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning.

Tutorial Assistance

Jumbunna provides one-to-one and small group tutorial services for eligible Indigenous students in all discipline/subject areas through the following programs.

  • Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme (ITAS)
  • The Supplementary Course for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students (SCATS) provides programs in Communications and Mathematics for students in their 1st year of study at UTS. The course offers assistance in developing the academic skills required for students in their chosen degrees. The SCATS subjects do not incur the Higher Education Contribution Scheme debt.

Study Facilities

Jumbunna has two computer rooms with printing facilities for student use during business hours. Students can also apply for an after-hours pass that enables 24x7 access. See our Academic & Cultural Advisers to obtain a pass. You will need to bring your UTS student ID card.

Jumbunna also provides two rooms where students can study or receive tutorials. Please note that demand for tutorial rooms can be high. You can secure a room in advance by using the timetable/booking sheet attached to the door of Rm 1720.

A common room with kitchen facilities is also provided.

UTS Library Services for Indigenous Students

UTS Library offers the Baya Ng'ara Nura learning Space for Indigenous students (you might need to book). The library also provides assistance with finding resources.
